Bella Mente proofs good form winning Key West Race Week.

A windy and sometimes wet Quantum Key West Race Week saw tho days of racing abandoned due to too much breeze and three days with perfect conditions, each good for three races.

Hap Fauth and the Bella Mente team saw Alex Shaerer and Team Caol Ila take an early lead which lasted till race 5. From then it was Bella Mente extending from the other three Maxi 72s.

Caol Ila seems improved with a taller new mast, now also rating near the class limit.

George Sakellaris and Team Proteus finished third but had a couple of bullets showing the potential of boat and team.

Sir Peter Ogden and team Jethou struggled a little to get in the top half of the scoring, not helped by Peter fighting a flu most of the week, but the racing was much closer than the results show.

All in all nine good races in three long race days for a fair result. Congratulations to Hap Fauth and the all star Team Bella Mente.

Next event for the 2016  Maxi 72 Overall Trophy is the RORC Caribbean 600. Expect again four teams to start in IRC 0 for this one: Bella Mente, Jethou, Momo and Proteus.
